Katie Hindrew joined Creative Financial Group in 2024. As a Certified Public Accountant with eighteen years of experience, she focuses on minimizing federal and state tax liabilities for her clients. Katie’s robust knowledge of tax and accounting principles, combined with her unique ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters with her clients, positions her as a trusted advisor.
Prior to joining Creative, Katie was most recently the head of tax and a corporate officer for the U.S. headquarters of a German-based syndicator of closed-end funds that invest in luxury multifamily apartment developments located throughout the U.S. In this role, she led the domestic and foreign income tax compliance function for corporate and partnership entities, as well as for nonresident alien individuals. In addition, she quantified the tax impacts of real estate sales, including any related Section 1446 withholding requirements, along with complex partnership allocations and waterfall calculations. She worked with the IRS to reduce and abate assessed penalties and interest, resolve notices, and manage tax audits. Lastly, she analyzed and interpreted current and impending tax laws and regulations that impacted the company.
Before moving to the real estate industry, Katie worked for a privately held global conglomerate headquartered in Atlanta and managed the income tax compliance and provision support for the company’s automotive line of business. Her responsibilities included reviewing federal, multi-state, and unitary corporate returns, reviewing state apportionment sourcing calculations, preparing and reviewing purchase accounting schedules, and reviewing fixed asset information for depreciation and gain/loss computations. Katie was also a co-creator of tax automated workpapers used by the company’s tax department.
Katie began her career at Frazier & Deeter in 2005 and earned her Master of Taxation degree from Georgia State’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business while working full-time. She graduated cum laude from Furman University in Greenville, SC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting. As a member of the Furman Women’s Basketball Team, Katie contributed to a few key upsets including wins over both Clemson and the University of Virginia.
Katie is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (CPA).
Katie resides in Cobb County with her husband Jarrett and their two boys, Jack and Cooper. In the summer, you can find Katie cheering on her sons at swim meets and, in the winter, she’s on the court coaching her sons’ basketball teams.
